Woman? Yes. Amazing? Absolutely.

by Abigail · 12/08/2025

Woman. What’s the first thing that appears in your mind when you hear that word? Probably a lot of different answers, no? Maybe strong, weak, fearless, and a lot of other answers.

In my opinion, woman is a being that is underestimated, they need to went through a lot of hard things, a lot of judgements, a lot of pressure in our society nowadays —even from back in the days where technology isn’t as modern as present day.

As a fellow woman, i sometimes —too— feel tired of the way society treats me, why is that? Because of the gender difference. Everywhere i step, it’s the same step that i took, always. That look of “She’s a woman, she can’t do anything”, “She’s a woman, she’s a lowly human”, “She’s a woman, she won’t get a high education”, “She’s a woman, she’ll end up in the kitchen anyway.” It’s those things that pisses me off every time i see that look. Because a woman is more than a human, a woman is more than a housewife, more than a porcelain doll, more than a human, and a woman can seek for anything she wants, do anything she wants, and reach their dreams even if it feels impossible for those who underestimate them. A lot of them has proven the society that a woman can be stronger, better, and more successful than a man in their field. Let me take an example.

Desiré Wilson, born in 26 November 1953, she was born in Brakpan, and until this day, she is reported to be the one of only five woman to race in Formula 1, and the only woman to be winning in Formula 1 history. Since 1978, Desiré Wilson has been recognised as the most accomplished female racing driver in the world. To date, she is the only woman to have been licensed to drive in a CART Indycars event, as well as holding a FIA Super Licence, which enabled her to race at the highest level, FIA Formula One World Championship. In 1980, she won both the Monza 1000km and the Silverstone 6 Hours World Championship for Makes races, thereby becoming the first woman to have outright victories in any FIA World Championship race.[8] (source from Wikipedia)

This proves to us that a woman can do anything she wants, reach her dreams as high as she can, and even break a world record. Desiré Wilson stands as living proof of what a woman can do when she refuses to be defined by limitations.

So to every woman reading this: don’t wait for permission, and don’t let the world decide how high you can go. You are not “just” a woman — you are a force, you are possibility, you are the storm and the calm after it. People will doubt you, underestimate you, and sometimes even try to stop you. But remember this — the greatest history-makers were once underestimated too. And one day, your story could be the one that proves them all wrong.

Thank you for reading. Keep walking, keep fighting, and keep proving that being a woman is never a limitation — it’s a power.
